A quiet Edwardian pocket west of Poets Corner, with its own railway station and some of the most accessible prices in Hove.
Richardson Road, Aldrington · Simon Carey, CC BY-SA 2.0 via Wikimedia CommonsAldrington occupies the western edge of Hove proper, between Poets Corner to the east and Portslade to the west, with the coastal railway line forming a natural northern boundary. It's one of the quieter, more residential parts of the town, a grid of Edwardian and inter-war streets that tends to attract buyers who want a Hove address without paying central Hove prices.
Mostly two and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses from the Edwardian period through to the 1930s. New Church Road runs east-west through the area with a scatter of local shops and services; the residential streets running off it are calmer and largely intact. There are fewer conversions here than in central Hove, so more houses remain as houses rather than being split into flats. That means buyers looking for a proper house with a garden are more likely to find what they want at realistic prices than they would in Poets Corner or Westbourne Villas.
Aldrington station is on the coastal rail line, with regular services east to Hove, Brighton, and London (via Brighton, around 1 hour 10 minutes to London Bridge), and west to Shoreham, Worthing, and Chichester. Services are less frequent than from Hove station itself, so if London commuting is a priority, check the timetable before buying. New Church Road carries frequent bus services connecting to central Hove and Brighton. The flat terrain makes cycling practical and popular; the seafront cycle route to Brighton is about 25 minutes.
Goldstone Primary School is the closest primary school to most of the area, around a 10–15 minute walk north. St Andrew's CE Primary sits slightly further east near the border with Poets Corner. For secondary education, Hove Park School is the main local option, roughly 1.5 miles north; BHASVIC sixth form college is also within cycling distance. Check current school admission maps before assuming catchment, as boundaries shift.
Aldrington typically runs 5–12% below equivalent Poets Corner streets for the same property type and condition. A two-bedroom terrace in reasonable order will generally be in the region of £360,000–£450,000; a three-bedroom semi in good condition tends to fall between £440,000 and £570,000. Properties on or near Old Shoreham Road are at the lower end of the range due to traffic noise. Use our free valuation tool for a tailored estimate on a specific property.

Aldrington is less talked-about than Poets Corner, which has historically kept prices a touch lower, worth bearing in mind if you're comparing the two. Old Shoreham Road to the north carries heavy traffic, so streets directly on it get more noise. Most of the residential streets operate permit-zone parking.
Directly east, Poets Corner is more sought-after and priced accordingly, with a tighter Victorian grid and an easy walk to Hove station. To the south-east, the Wish Road area offers similar Edwardian housing with Hove Lagoon at the seafront end. Heading west, Portslade Border is the most affordable part of the BN3 postcode, with even lower prices for buyers who want to stretch their budget further.
